I am self-confessed shopaholic, I pride myself on being able to look stylish on a budget. Paying full price is a cardinal sin in my book. When I was a kid, my Mum would take me to direct factory outlets. There was always a thrill of getting a discount or finding a unique piece you couldn’t find in flagship stores. Sometimes it was challenging finding your size amongst some of the store's rubbish stock at the time, but you never know what you’re going to find.
As an adult, I have continued visiting direct factory outlets to buy clothes and find nice gifts. Here are some of my favourite secret shopping spots in Melbourne.
Ted Baker and Hugo Boss Outlet - 6 Albert St, Preston ,VIC 3072.
Ted Baker has some chic formal wear for your next fancy occasion. Hugo Boss has a range of suits and corporate wear for those looking to impress in the office. This outlet is a personal favourite of mine. I have bought some beautiful skirts and dresses for my wardrobe, including a cherry blossom printed maxi skirt for only $49.
Siricco-151 Bourke Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000.
If you're looking for some quality leather products from some well-known brands for a fraction of the price, Sirricco might be worth a visit. I was able to buy a Sandro Paris leather jacket for only $200 when the RRP was over $1000.
Zimmerman Outlet-94 Cubitt St, Cremorne, Victoria, 3121.
I am a big Zimmerman fan, but it is hard to justify spending so much on a designer piece that may only be worn a few times. The Zimmerman outlet has some beautiful pieces, including their signature silk and linen pieces in a range of different sizes. I was able to buy a Zimmerman dress for half the original RRP, which ended up being a great saving considering the expensive price point.
Uni Hill DFO- 2 Janefield Drive, Bundoora, VIC 3083.
Uni Hill DFO has many streetwear, sportswear, and casual wear brands to cater for all ages and stages. The outlet has crowd-favourite brands such as Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Country Road, Adidas, Champion and Cotton On, with discounts all year round.
Uni Hill is known for having the biggest Nike outlet in Australia. On a previous visit to Nike, I purchased two pairs of sneakers for under $120.
South Wharf DFO- 20 Convention Centre Place, VIC 3000.
South Wharf DFO is a hidden gem in Melbournes CBD next to the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. It has a variety of stores, including a few designer brands, including Coach, Furla, Kate Spade, Tissot, RM Williams, Sass & Bide and Calvin Klein for those looking for something at a more affordable price point. My partner bought a pair of RM Williams shoes for a fraction of the retail price.
