Married At First Sight Reunion Dinner Party Recap: Jono and Ellie Enter Their Villain Era

Jono's Mr. Nice Guy attitude charmed many Married At First Sight (MAFS) fans. Last week, we discovered that Ellie and Jono were secretly texting. Jono played off the hundreds of texts as having a platonic relationship with Ellie while framing Lauren as crazy and overactive. This disagreement led to the explosive breakup of Lauren and Jono at final vows. Lauren always tells us in confessionals that she has always had an off feeling about Jono. It turns out Lauren was right all along.

Tonight, we see Jono and Ellie entering the dinner party hand-in-hand, which hurts Lauren. Jono did not warn Lauren that Ellie and Jono are now a couple. Jono and Ellie act very insensitive and rude to Lauren the whole evening. The couple are all over each other and keep throwing unnecessary shade at Lauren, who is clearly upset with their passive-aggressive behaviour. Lauren cries into Sara's arms, and Jono remarks that she is putting on a show and fakes her reaction. This man is a piece of work.

Jono even tells the whole table that Lauren never had any feelings for him and has no empathy. Well, Jono, why is Lauren crying? Lauren clearly developed feelings for Jono during the experiment, but maybe slower than he would have liked. The former couple always had good banter, intense chemistry, and affection. Why would Lauren go to final vows and have sex with you if she never had feelings for you, Jono?

I was shocked to see Ellie's mean girl behaviour showboating off Jono, ignoring Lauren when she said hi and calling Lauren a 'a fucking stupid bitch'. Ellie is a pick-me girl desperate for any man's attention. After all, Ellie was desperate enough to put up with Ben's bullshit for weeks, despite the fact Ben was only on MAFS to promote his podcast. Ellie must have a thing for weak men, or she is so desperate for kids she will let anyone be the father. Jono is very rude to Ben; he remarks, 'You stuffed up when you had this perfect woman', despite Ben wishing Jono and Ellie well.

Jono is the definition of a weak and toxic man. You can tell a lot by a person with how they speak and treat their ex-partners. Jono compares dating Lauren to walking through hell on broken glass; what a lovely way to talk about your ex. Then why did you not write leave at any stage, Jono, and does this mean you were the one faking your feelings?

Jono completely gaslights Lauren, and the cast by pretending his texts with Ellie were platonic. The other cast members grill Jono and Ellie about their relationship. During the experiment, Jono and Ellie exchanged several hundred text messages over six weeks. In my eyes, that is inappropriate, clearly emotional cheating, and shows intent to get to know Ellie on a deeper level.

Nobody is buying that Jono and Ellie have been dating for only three weeks and are already boyfriend and girlfriend. The pressure gets to Ellie, who admits they flirted and that she suspects Jono has a crush on her. Jono tries to get the heat off himself by throwing Tim to the wolves. Jono tattles on Tim and is unsure about his decision to continue his relationship with Sara during final vows. Jono declares that Tim deserves better than Sara. All hell breaks loose, with Sara storming out and Tim chasing after her. Sara is embarrassed and upset that Tim keeps flip-flopping in his commitment to her. Throughout the chaos and negativity, Ellie keeps this unnerving smile plastered to her face, almost like she is enjoying everyone else's having a rough time.

What a crazy dinner party! Jono fooled me with his Mr Nice Guy Facade, and Ellie is more fake than my acrylic nails. Thanks for reading my recap, and enjoy the final episode of MAFS tonight!
