It all went down at last night's MAFS dinner party. Secrets and rumours spread across the table like wildfires. Jack was, of course, the centre of last night's drama (again). Loyalties were tested between husbands and wives, and friendships were also placed under pressure.
Rumour has it Jack is not attracted to Tori (we already knew that). That was not the worst; Jack makes a sick joke that he is happy for the other grooms to fuck Tori during the couple swap week because he is not sexually attracted to her. The fact Jack degrades Tori behind her back when she has feelings for him and is considering moving states to be together is despicable. Grow some balls, mate, and tell Tori the truth if you're such an alpha.
Surprisingly, Jack had confided in Jono (Lauren's partner). The two seem really different, but they were actually friends. This smack chat occurred at the gym, so ladies, be suspicious if your man has a gym date with his bro; he may be gossiping about you.
Jono starts the rumour mill with Lauren, who tells Sara, then Eden, and eventually, the girls tell Tori. Loose lips sink ships, Jono. Lauren then exposes Jack at the MAFS family dinner table. However, this publicly humiliates Tori and causes her to lose trust in the women and become closer to Jack as a result. Lauren should have pulled Tori aside separately instead of exposing the rumours to the whole group.
Lauren and Jack trade jabs, including Jack telling Jono to 'muzzle his woman', making the whole table wince. Real classy, Jack. Tori pretends not to be bothered, but you can tell she is sad and is fronting that she fully trusts Jack.
Trash bag Jack tells the group about the couple's shared dark humour as a way of excusing his misogynistic joke. Nobody is buying what you're selling, Jack, except maybe Tori. There is a fine line between banter and bullying, and I believe Jack is actually humiliating his wife on purpose in front of all the other grooms to make his ego bigger because he is a narcissist.
Jono is in a challenging position tonight with torn allegiance between his mate and wife. Jack is mad at Jono for breaking the sacred bro code. On the other hand, Lauren is also disappointed in Jono; she feels Jono did not fully back her when Jono lied to the table about Jack's remark around finding Tori attractive.
By Jono choosing to play both sides, he loses both Jack and Lauren's trust. You should always back your partner, especially if you have already told her the gossip. Jono buckles under pressure and cannot stand up to Jack; he then loses the respect of Lauren, who was seeking his loyalty and support during the conflict.
Dudes who abide by the bro code are boys; a real man would stand up for his partner, Jono. Lauren does seem like a pain in the ass sometimes, but she really needed you at that moment, mate. Jono seems to really lack a backbone; I wish we got more of a perspective of what Jono was thinking.
My theory is that Jono is not really keen on his wife. Over the past few weeks, we have seen Lauren berate her husband for being 'too nice' and 'boring.' I think this may have gotten to Jono's self-esteem and made him lose self-confidence as a result. When your intimate partner is so negative towards you, of course, you're not going to develop feelings for them, and you're going to feel hurt. Jack has probably been stroking Jono's ego a lot more than Lauren has, which is why Jono feels such a strong sense of loyalty to Jack.
Overall, I think Jono has a good heart, and I think he needs to get his priorities straight and realise that he is not on Friends at First Sight.
How would you have acted in Jono's situation if your best mate and partner were in confrontation?
Keep watching MAFS, the next episode airs 7 pm Sunday on Channel 9.
