My little fur babies bring me so much joy every day. I have a two-year-old dachshund called Klaus. I also recently adopted a domestic short hair cat named Jovi. I love to spoil my pets; here are some ideas on how to show your pet you love them.
Buy a treat or make a homemade treat.
The way to an animal’s heart is through their stomach. I like to cook for my pets, I like knowing what ingredients are going into their food.
I’ll sometimes buy Klaus a bone from my local butcher. Bones are great for your dog’s dental and oral health. However, do not give your animals cooked bone. Cooked bones can break into tiny fragments and cause your pet to choke.
I like to make homemade pet mince for my animals. All you need is pet mince add grated carrot and some peas. Combine the ingredients and cook the mince until it has browned.
I recently found a fabulous pet biscuit recipe; Jovi and Klaus love it! The recipe only has four ingredients! ( Is this link supposed to work or you should add the recipe)
Buy or make toys
Play is so important for our animals' physical and mental health. When we engage in play, our pets blow off steam and are mentally stimulated.
My favourite cat toy is the fishing pole. The toy consists of a stick with a retractable piece of rope and a small toy on the end. The fishing pole toy engages Jovi’s hunting instincts. My favourite dog toy is the IQ puzzle from Kmart. This fun, interactive IQ toy keeps Klaus mentally stimulated for ages as he searches for treats. I recommend getting toys from Kmart, the quality is on par with some of the more expensive brands.
You can also make your pets toys if you are crafty (I am certainly not). Here are some ideas I have linked to make your pet toys
Play hide and seek
My pets love to play hide and seek. I’ll leave a small opening in the door and the animals in the opposite room. I’ll then hide, and Jovi and Klaus will go looking for me. When Jovi or Klaus find me, I give them a treat for finding me. I enjoy this game just as much as my fur babies.
Treasure hunt
When I go to work or leave the house, my animals always feel sad, so I try to keep them busy while I’m gone. One of my favourite ways to keep Jovi and Klaus entertained is a treasure hunt. I will hide a few treats around the house for the pets to find. Another great idea to keep them entertained involves filling a kong toy with treats and Greek yogurt, then freezing the kong toy. This will make it more challenging for your pet to access the treat.
Make cute TikTok or Instagram shorts
Watching TikTok’s of dachshunds is the highlight of my day. So why not make your pet a social media star? Shoot some TikTok videos of your pet. You never know; they could go viral. Give your pet an Instagram handle and take cute snaps for the gram.
I hope you and your pets enjoy these tips on how to spoil your best buddies..
