Fashion Ins and Outs 2024

It's a new year, so it's time for new fashion trends. This year, we are moving away from the Y2K and the Clean Girl Aesthetic, which dominated 2023. This year, I expect to see more feminine and preppy trends, moving towards intentional silhouettes that play with shape and volume. Fashion this year will be more expressive and colourful; it's time to say goodbye to monochromatic and minimalist outfits.

Elevated Basics

This year, we're investing in high-quality basics that can be interchanged with constantly moving fashion trends. Look for clothes made of organic materials such as cotton, linen, hemp and bamboo. Buy well, and they will last you a long time.

Cheetah Print

This year is the year of animal prints, particularly cheetah prints, which are a key feature of the rising Mob Wife Aesthetic. This look is hot on TikTok, so don't turn your nose up if you see women going out in animal print, smokey eyeshadow, and fur coats.

Short Nails

Forget about long nails; they are unhygienic, fiddly and tacky. Short nails are classy, dainty, and practical for everyday tasks like typing and cooking. Our 2024 goal is to have short nails all year.

Country Club Core

The Country Club Core Aesthetic will be a very popular style this year. To pull off this look, imagine you are heading off to the country club or stables to ride your horse. You will need key pieces, such as a polo shirt/ slim white collared shirt, cropped cardigan, brown chinos, long boots and a navy blazer.

Quiet Luxury

We are continuing the trend of quiet luxury, which means no in-your-face logos and fast fashion pieces. Look for high-quality, elegant and timeless pieces that outlive the trend cycle. Keep it simple and classy with a nice pair of black leather boots, a merino grey sweater and a pleated skirt. The idea is to buy items made of nice materials, constructed with care and well fitted to your body.

Leather

Leather is back in fashion! This material is versatile and can push boundaries in fashion. Expect to see many pieces such as oversized leather jackets, edgy cutout dresses and leather mini skirts. This season, I want to try micro leather shorts with some tights; I think this would look chic.

Tulle

I love tulle. The material is so delicate, a bit sheer and frilly. With more feminine and playful fashion trends this year, we will see lots of tulle in 2024.

Chunky Shoes

Chunky sneakers and heels will continue to dominate. This will boost your look without compromising your comfort.

Out of Fashion

Barbiecore

The Barbie movie has ended, and the pink power suit you bought from H&M is no longer cool.

Y2K

I hope Y2K ends this year. I have always disliked early 2000s fashion. It's trashy and uses too much glitter and butterflies for my liking.

Long Denim Skirts

Long denim is on the way out. I saw so many girls wearing this over the summer. I am somewhat disappointed I did not get to try this trend.

Clean Girl Makeup

I am not wearing this makeup look anymore, it has always seemed super dull to me.

Baggy Denim

I despise baggy denim and hope never to see it again! It is unflattering and makes you appear slouchy.

Vests

If you have a big chest like me, you will be glad this trend went in the bin,

Micro Bags

If you can't fit a phone in it, what's the point? Try selling those mini Jacquemus bags before their value drops.

Uggs

Why is everyone obsessed with Uggs? They are just slippers.
